New Case Management Order for Proton Pump Inhibitor Lawsuits

A new case management order has been released by the federal court overseeing nearly 522 plus proton pump inhibitor (PPI) lawsuits. The drugs in question include Nexium, Prilosec, Prevacid, Protonix, and others. The plaintiffs allege that PPIs cause kidney injuries including acute interstitial nephritis, chronic kidney disease, and end-stage renal disease. The PPI lawsuits have been centralized in the District of New Jersey before Judge Claire C. Cecchi for coordinated pretrial proceedings.

The new case management order released on February 5, communicates among other things, the form, procedure, and schedule for the completion and service of Plaintiff Fact Sheets (PFS). Each plaintiff involved in this litigation is expected to submit a PFS that is “substantially complete in all respects.” Plaintiffs whose lawsuits are currently pending have 120 days from the date of the Order to serve their respective PFS and duly executed authorizations, with the relevant documentation attached.

Plaintiffs who file or have PPI lawsuits transferred to the MDL in the future have 90 days from the date of service of the first Short Form Answer received and filed by a defendant.

The defendants are AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals LP, Procter & Gamble Co., McKesson Corp., Takeda Pharmaceuticals USA Inc., Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corp., Pfizer Inc., and Pfizer subsidiary Wyeth.

Further, a growing number of lawsuits continue to join the Proton Pump Inhibitor MDL; each allegation holds the drug manufacturers responsible for withholding information about the risks associated with long-term use of the medications.

Sure wish victims and victims families could receive the settlement awards! It's been such a long time coming. Hope we the poor things didn't get swept under the rug of corruption.

This has been going on too long . The drug manufacturing companies continue to grow and continue selling the poison drugs and making a huge profit.. There are new lawsuits being filed daily ,about the same harming medications but this time it's cancer.

It is disgraceful and unacceptable by any standard, the years that these cases are dragged on, and on and on. Decades of legal rhetoric only allow big pharma to pollute our lives with tactics that are unethical and illegal.

I agree The "landmark" settlement money has been awarded. Why were they combined in a MDL and put into court in New Jersey before Judge Claire C. Cecchi?

I want answers to the same question but do not receive a answer.. A different lawsuit for the same drugs and companies was in the same court and same judge years ago..Sounds suspicious. New cases are being filed with the same drugs and companies if it caused cancer. These drugs are poison and deadly to people . The people are the victims The lawyers make a fortune . The judge gives the manufactory a huge fine. DOJ gets a huge payout too in the past cases. Victims get nothing. Most die waiting

I agree not acceptable. My healthI keep declining. The updates haven't changed at all the numbers are still the same. I believe only morgan and morgan will be the only ones getting paid

This settlement is taking so long, my mom has since passed away from kidney failure and I’m still waiting for her settlement. Unacceptable
